About the Faculty

Development of the information and communication technology and demand for IT staff is the reason why, in 2008, the initiative was launched to establish the study of Informatics. The process of opening of the University undergraduate study of Informatics was completed on 4th August 2011, when the Ministry of Science, Education and Sport (MZOS) issued their permission to open the said study. The same year, the first generation of students were enrolled, and the study was conducted at the Department of Informatics, within the Faculty of Economics and Tourism "Dr. Mijo Mirković".

In order to enable undergraduate students of Informatics to continue their studies in Pula, the need arose to introduce a University graduate study of Informatics. Based on the approval by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sport (MZOS), granted on 16th June 2015, the first generation of students was enrolled in the graduate study in the academic year 2015/2016, namely in two course types: Informatics and Informatics for Educational Purposes.

Based on the decision by the Juraj Dobrila University in Pula’s Senate on 1st October 2015, the Department of Information and Communication Technologies was established, which combines the undergraduate study of Informatics and both study courses of graduate study.

Based on the decision by the Senate, the Department of Information and Communication Technologies was renamed into the Faculty of Informatics in Pula, which was registered at the Commercial Court in Pazin on 17th May 2018.

The Dean of the Faculty is Darko Etinger Ph.D., Associate Professor.
